Last free day calculator
Count your free days from the availability date to the last free day, and the days left.
Free days are counted starting the day after the container is available; the last free day is the last of those days, and the terminal's storage clock (demurrage) starts the next day. The 4-day default is a common figure, but free time varies by terminal, carrier and contract, so enter your own. The weekday option skips Saturday and Sunday only; it does not know port holidays or terminal closures, which some tariffs also treat as free. This is a day count on the numbers you enter, not fee, demurrage, or negotiation advice.

Common questions
How do you calculate the last free day?
Count the allowed free days forward from the date the container becomes available. The last of those days is the last free day; storage charges start the day after. Enter your availability date and free-day count above.
How many free days does a container get?
It varies by terminal, carrier and contract, commonly around four to five, sometimes more or fewer. This tool defaults to four and lets you set your own. Check your terminal tariff or carrier for the exact number.
Do weekends and holidays count as free days?
It depends on the tariff. Some count every calendar day, some exclude weekends or holidays. This tool offers a calendar-day count and a weekday-only count; it does not track port holidays, so treat the result as mechanics and confirm the closures against your terminal tariff.
